Lake County Tribal
Transportation Needs and Engineered Feasibility Study

OUR GOAL

What we strive for – To prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries by identifying high-risk areas and prioritizing investments in safety throughout Tribal lands.

What is a Transportation Needs
and Engineered Feasibility Study?

The Transportation Needs and Engineered Feasibility Study is a plan to explore the needs, priorities, and feasibility of improving identified deficiencies within and adjacent to Native lands on Tribal road systems. The Study serves to identify and prioritize Tribal transportation projects as a framework to complement existing Tribal Transportation plans and support the development or update of older Tribal plans.

Lake Area Planning Council’s Mission

The Lake Area Planning Council is committed to fostering a safe, sustainable, and connected community through an equitable Comprehensive Study. By prioritizing the health, well-being, and mobility of your tribal members and neighbors, we aim to create accessible pathways, promote walking and cycling, and honor your ancestral lands while reducing environmental impact. Together, we are building a future where every journey reflects values of stewardship, unity, and resilience.

Our Four Objectives:

1

Enhance Transportation Safety and Equity

Identify high-risk areas for crashes using crash history and transportation data while ensuring a safe, sustainable, integrated, and efficient system for all users, particularly disadvantaged Tribal communities.

2

Target Key Emphasis Areas for Interventions

Use crash analysis, tribal objectives, and tribal community insights to prioritize areas for improvements and transportation equity.

3

Develop a Comprehensive Multimodal Improvement Strategy

Establish a structured program and toolbox that aligns with best practices, supports systemic safety improvements, and fosters opportunities for future initiatives.

4

Plan and Prioritize Roadway Improvements

Develop, propose countermeasure projects and recommend funding programs, considering cost, effort, and timeline to maximize impact.
